Match Report – 18 June 2010
| Under 12 vs Lennox Head White |
The Bangalow under 12’s were well beaten on the weekend, 59-5 by Lennox Head White.
Our team got off to a very slow start allowing Lennox Head White to score immediately from the kick off & then follow up with another 5 tries within the next 10 minutes. By the time our team had woken up Lennox Head had already established a commanding lead.
Bangalow did improve in the second half lead by determined tackling from Gabe Douglas & Tommy Gibson. Henry Einfeld was the 1st player at every ruck & maul & Patrick Salina made some powerful runs that finally lead to a wonderful try.
It is very important that we maintain a positive attitude even when we are losing & realize that negative comments can lead to lack of confidence amongst players.
Training is on this Tuesday at 4.30pm. Please can everyone be there.
| Under 14 vs Brunswick |
The under 14s won 14 nil against Brunswick, but were disappointed with our scrappy performance. We didn’t train well during the week, players arrived late to the game and the lack of focus showed in an undisciplined performance. It seemed that we just couldn’t keep control of the ball. There was plenty of enthusiasm but we couldn’t hold the ball long enough to score points. Too often we tried to score with heroic individual runs in a single phase of play, forgetting about working with our supports and building a structured attack. Too often players were isolated or were over zealous at the breakdown, drawing the wrath of the referee. For the second time this year we forgot that when Steve Miller is referee you cannot tackle above the armpits!
The positives were two outstanding tries to Jaiden Jones who continues to gain in confidence at outside centre, and some excellent determined defence on our own line to deny a much improved Brunswick side any points.
